METER HOOK-UP
and
LINE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Follow the instructions and illustrations when hooking on to a meter pit provided by the Poweshiek Water Association.
A six-foot (6') piece of 1" or 1 ½” PVC pipe has been extended on the outlet side of the pit approximately 60" deep. This allows you to dig six feet (6') away from the meter pit while making your connection.

DO NOT EXPOSE THE METER PIT!
Block the Line
at the 6' PVC pipe Connection.

Line size from the pit to your system is optional. To obtain proper pressures ask a professional plumber the line size needed for the correct volume to your structure.

Cross Connection Specifications are on (lie next page. A PWA staff-person will set up an appointment to inspect the air break or line break from your existing water source to the Poweshiek Water Association system. Be aware the Association will deny service to customers whose air break does not meet regulatory standards.
Leaks beyond the meter pit are (lie customers' responsibility, please make sure the installation of your system is done properly!
Monthly charges begin once water is available from the Poweshiek Water Association system, whether the water is used or not — so get your personal connection dug in as soon as possible.

Cross Connection Specification

When using the Association water supply, Valve #3 will be shut and Union #2 will be connected. Valves #1 and #2 will then be open.

When using the well system, Valve /#2 will be shut and Union #3 will be connected. Valves #1 and #3 will then be open.

The positive disconnect may be located at the convenience of the property owner, such as the existing well pit, pump house or in the basement of the home.

The purpose of the positive disconnect policy is to prevent accidental contamination of a public water system by water from a private well. The positive disconnect is mandatory by the authority of the Iowa Department of Public Health.
